Correct water meter size

Feb 10, 2019

In the past, many older water companies used empirical estimates to determine the size of the water meter, either by using the smaller one than the pipe as the water meter model or according to user requirements. This practice and the reduction in the size of large water plants or facilities can result in oversized water meters.

Water meters are the most difficult to read at low flow rates, and oversized water meters work most often at low flow rates, which means that in most cases the readings will be small.

In most cases, plans to reduce the size of the water meter will provide a quick return, while at the same time helping the utility to update the population database of the meter and help determine the connection pipe that does not have a water meter installed.
