Causes and Solutions of Common Failures of Water Meters
Phenomenon 1: Water meter pointer falls off
Analyze the possible reasons:
1. The pointer is not installed properly.
2. There is no water on the surface, and there is water hammer in the pipe network.
3. The pointer does not fit tightly with the gear shaft and the vibration falls off.
Solution:
1. Disassemble the water meter, re-install the pointer and calibrate the meter or change the meter.
2. Disassemble the water meter and fill the bottom of the glass with water.
Phenomenon 2: Character wheel does not carry
Analyze the possible reasons:
1. The character wheel transmission is small and the gear is stuck.
2. The gear or worm is broken and out of gear.
Solution:
Replace the counter or a new water meter
Phenomenon 3: Poor sensitivity or the water meter does not move
Analyze the possible reasons:
1. The debris in the pipe network is stuck.
2. The top is loose or the water meter is overloaded, and the wear is too large.
3. The water meter is overloaded, and the moving components are damaged and cannot be rotated.
4. The gear in the counter is stuck.
Solution:
1. Install the filter.
2. Disassemble the core and tighten the top. The water meter is strictly prohibited from overloading.
3. Check whether the gear is broken, whether the gear has burrs or missing teeth.
4. Disassemble the meter to clean and replace damaged parts or replace the meter.
Phenomenon 4: The dial surface is black
Analyze the possible reasons:
1. The water quality is too bad and the dirt is deposited.
2. The water contains chemical substances that react with the ink.
3. There is a problem with the quality of the ink itself.
Solution:
1. Install a filter before the water meter pipeline.
2. Clean the surface and re calibrate the meter or replace it with a new meter.
Phenomenon 5: The water meter rotates when not using water
Analyze the possible reasons:
1. Excessive pressure fluctuations in the pipeline network.
2. The distance between the water meter and the main pipeline is too close.
3. The water meter is installed centrally, and the water hammer is caused by adjacent users.
4. The pipe network behind the meter is leaking.
5. The special check valve is not installed before the water-saving meter or the check valve is stuck and cannot be reset.
6. There are blind pipes in the pipe network behind the meter to form an air column.
Solution:
1. Rotation is a common phenomenon in the region. It may be caused by the local water pressure being too high and fluctuating too much. It is recommended to install an elastic check valve or replace it with a water meter with poor sensitivity.
2. If the rotation is an individual or a small number of phenomena, you should check the rotation of the water meter; if it is non-intermittent and even rotation, it is generally because there is leakage in the pipe network behind the meter; if it is intermittent rotation, you should check whether the installation position of the water meter is off. The main pipeline is too close or installed centrally, and whether there is a pipe network behind the meter to form an air column.
3. If the water-saving meter with the check valve is rotating, the air in the pipe network behind the meter should be exhausted and the sundries in the check valve should be removed. If the water meter rotates evenly after treatment, it indicates that there is leakage in the pipe network behind the meter. If it is inconvenient for the user to repair, it is recommended to close the main valve before or after the meter when it is not using water.
